Meizhu: Meeting high school careers counsellors
I was invited to a lovely lunch with secondary school
careers counsellors, senior Monash staff and some outstanding Monash students.
With round tables, flowers, and drinks, the lunch turned out to be like a ball!
While I was talking to the careers counsellors, I began to
think about why I picked Monash University and chose a degree in Commerce.
Four years ago, starting out as a newly-graduated school
girl, I decided to take advantage of my number skills and build my way towards becoming
a professional businesswoman. My parents suggested I undertake accounting or
finance as it is a good starting point for everything, and four years later
here I am – a commerce graduate! Thanks to this lunch, I gained a better understanding of career planning and learned a few tips about career development strategies. So if you’re ever confused about your future career, have a chat with your careers counsellor!
