Gerard: Entrepreneurship, head starts and the perks of being an early riser

It’s always good to get to uni early in the morning – not only to secure a good spot in the carpark, but to get first dibs on the three-hour loan books in the library! I also find I’m more productive in the mornings, so smashing out a chunk of work lets me have a more relaxing evening with family and friends.

Yesterday I unleashed my entrepreneurial skills with some uni friends when we did some car reviewing – just for fun haha! In weighing up the pros and cons of the car, we tested issues of product segmentation, and targeting and positioning came to mind. It’s funny how all those marketing lectures seem to have permeated my subconscious!

Personally, I enjoy the numbers side to Commerce more (Law is content heavy enough!), so I’m doing an accounting unit this semester. I know some people find accounting mundane, but the lecturer makes the class more interactive, leaving gaps in the lecture slides and always relating concepts to everyday life.

Anyway, it’s back to content-heavy law now as I’m off to the city to take notes for a student doing postgraduate studies in corporate law as part of my work with Disability Liaison Unit. Ironically, the lecturer for the unit is also teaching my undergraduate class in Corporations Law, so I’ve been lucky enough to get a head start!
