Henry: O-Week!

No comments :

Today was the first day of the very much anticipated O-Week Festival. O-Week is when all the clubs and societies at Monash showcase themselves to students to get them to sign up to their club or society, which means lots of freebies!

I was already pretty impressed by the number of different white tents set up for O-Week (easily over 100), but I was even more amazed by the incentives and discounts offered by the clubs to make students join them. When signing up to a club or society, they would give you a showbag filled with goodies! By far, the best pick of the goods was a power bank from the Monash Actuarial Student Society, though I also made sure to stock up on my supply of pens, highlighters and post-it notes, which means that I won't have to do any stationary shopping for the year too!

Everyone enjoying the free entertainment
at the Sound Shell, Clayton campus
Alongside all of this was also a BBQ run by MSA where people could get a sausage and a drink while listening to free entertainment at the Sound Shell, which I thought was pretty neat!

Also a handy hint to anyone planning on coming to Monash: Don’t forget to join MSA before O-Week because they offer a $5 discount when joining clubs and societies during O-Week (which was extremely handy since some clubs and societies became free to join)! There were also a few outside organisations offering freebies too, which were pretty awesome (shout out to Officeworks and Commonwealth Bank for the goods)!!

Overall, a very enjoyable first day of O-Week and can’t wait to see what’s instore next!
