Nathaniel: What's that major?

I was always interested in studying something related to maths, and was really considering a science degree throughout year twelve. At some point that year, however, I was introduced to the field of Actuaries. It sounded like a really interesting combination of technical knowledge and applied skills, which really appealed to me. At the start of my third year, I realised I was only one or two subjects off an econometrics major, due to the crossover in subjects between the two majors, so decided to take econometrics as well!
Q. What do you think are the advantages of studying multiple majors in your degree?
It really gives you a much broader understanding and you can look at something from multiple perspectives a lot easier. Having multiple majors also makes you much more competitive in the job market, which is a bonus when looking for jobs!
Q. What are the best or most interesting aspects of your majors?
Both actuarial studies and econometrics are grounded in actual, real-wold situations. You're not just learning theory without any context, you're seeing how it can be used as well.
Q. What careers do you think your majors will lead to?
Hopefully a position in data analytics, research, actuary or finance.
